PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new opening method which is different from both an opening by physical and mechanical crushing and an opening by chemical modification， and to provide an opening method which can obtain a desired fine CNF by treatment in a short time without chemically modifying the CNF itself. SOLUTION: There is provided a method for continuously obtaining cellulose nanofibers from a raw cellulose without performing chemical opening and without performing physical and mechanical opening in post processing， wherein the method for producing cellulose nanofibers comprises opening the raw cellulose by mixing the raw cellulose with a subcritical water in a state of high temperature and high pressure， which is 180°C or higher and lower than 370°C and 5 MPa to 35 MPa respectively， thereby obtaining cellulose nanofibers dispersed in water.
