Moderate pressures as a vehicle for propionate production from syngas by a syngas-enriched culture

In this work, a highly enriched culture able to produce propionate from syngas was previously obtained was used as inoculum. This enriched culture was mainly composed of an acetogenic bacteria, a new strain of Acetobacterium wieringae strain JM. Here we study this enriched culture in pressurized bioreactors, fed with syngas and CO to assess the effect of pressure on propionate productivities.
