Whole Genome Sequencing and Analysis of Bengal Tiger (Panthera tigris tigris)

Effective conservation of the endangered tiger (P. tigris tigris) will require multi-pronged inputs and strategies. Rapid advances in NGS make efficient sequencing of mammalian genome extremely feasible.The objective of this study is WGS and comparative genomics to analyze variations in Bengal Tiger with respect to the Amur Tiger (P. tigris altaica) genome.This information will help us understand variations and signatures of adaptations of this iconic species to diverse environmental conditions.Truseq Nano DNA HT Sample preparation kit FC-121-4003 was used to prepare the libraries having insert sizes 230-250, 350 and 550 and sequenced on Illumina HiSeq 2500.
