Paracoccus bogoriensis BOG6 Genome sequencing and Assembly

Paracoccus bogoriensis BOG6 is a halotolerant, alkaliphilic bacteria belonging to the genus Paracoccus. It was first isolated from Lake Bogoria (a hot spring) in Kenya. P. bogoriensis is one of the few species in genus Paracoccus that can produce industrially important fine chemical carotenoid. Apart from producing a high market value product carotenoid it can also produce PHB (polyhydroxybutryrate); a biopolymer.All the above factors makes P. bogoriensis a highly interesting micro-organism for further studies in the light of industrial application.
