Direct shear tests for natural fractures with different normal stress and surface roughness in sandstone

This is the experimental data for the manuscript entitled <b><i>Temporal evolution of shear-induced dilatancy of rock fractures: Controls from surface roughness and normal stress</i></b>, which has been submitted for consideration for publication in <i>Geophysical Journal International</i>.The data includes the normal load, normal piston position, normal displacement, shear load, slip displacement, normal stress, and shear stress monitored in the 16 direct shear experiments in the Microsoft Excel file, as well as the topography data of the four surfaces with different joint roughness coefficient (JRC) in the four text files. The three columns in the text files indicates the x, y, and z coordinates of the surface asperities.
