Bacterial and diatom communities collected from James Ross Archipelago and South Shetland Island waterbodies

Three files are included here: "Ant_env.csv", "Ant_diatom_counts.csv", and "Ant_bacteria_ASVs_rarefied.csv". Ant_env.csv is a metadata file, whereas Ant_diatom_counts.csv contains diatom count data [enumerated to 300 valves] and Ant_bacteria_ASVs_rarefied.csv contains a rarefied ASV table [rarefied to 19,922 reads]. In Ant_env.csv, column names include Site_ID [abbreviation of waterbody name], Waterbody [waterbody name written in full], Island [island name written in full], Region [James_Ross or South_Shetlands], Island_group [James Ross Archipelago, JRA; South Shetland Islands, SSI], latitude [decimal degrees], longitude [decimal degrees], altitude [waterbody m above sea level], area [waterbody area, m2], perimeter [waterbody perimeter, m], pH, cond [conductivity, μS/cm], water_temp [waterbody temperature, degrees C], org_C [percent organic carbon], and PRC_slide_id [accession number for permanent slide stored at the Charles University herbarium]. In Ant_diatom_counts.csv, the first two column names include Morph_number [morphotype number] and id [morphotype genus_species abbreviation]. The next 15 columns are waterbody abbreviations that correspond to full waterbody names given in Ant_env.csv. The final two columns provide taxonomic information for diatom morphotypes including Genus and Species. In Ant_bacteria_ASVs_rarefied.csv, the first two columns include ASV_number and id [ASV identification code]. The next 15 columns are waterbody abbreviations that correspond to full waterbody names given in Ant_env.csv. The final seven columns provide taxonomic information for ASVs including Domain, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, and Species.
