Vegetation - Chocolate Mountain Naval Areal Gunnery Range [ds3124]

The purpose of the Cooperative Agreement with the University of Arizona, Tucson and the Univeristy of California, Riverside was to develop a comprehensive vegetation map and flora for the Chocolate Mountain Aerial Gunnery Range (CMAGR), under management by the Marine Corps Air Station Yuma (MCAS Yuma), Arizona. The vegetation map and flora will allow effective management of the vegetation communities on the CMAGR and provide a baseline for ecosystem management. The
vegetation survey and flora are part the Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan (INRMP) prepared by MCAS Yuma under the Sikes Act Improvement Amendments of 1997. The mapping study area, consists of approximately 458,000 acres, of Riverside and Imperial counties. The minimum mapping unit (MMU) is 2.5 acres. The floristic classification follows protocols compliant with the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) and National Vegetation Classification Standards (NVCS).
