Bacterial isolate from grapes

Microbes isolated from fruits often include bacteria that can ferment and metabolize the fruit sugars. Our group was interested in isolating and genome sequencing bacteria from fruits, specifically grapes, in the Finger Lakes region of upstate NY. Our study resulted in the genome sequence of a strain of Gluconobacter, an acetic acid bacterium.
