The purpose of this study was to determine if a population of Sindbis virus constructs retained inserted miRNA target sequences in the 3'UTR after passing through the midgut of Aedes aegypti. The miRNA target sequences were specific to the mosquito midgut. Also included in this study are Sindbis virus populations which contained a control insert and Sindbis virus populations from mosquitoes that were injected with the virus containing the midgut specific miRNA target sequences.
