Triple-element (δ¹³C, δ¹⁵N, δ³⁴S) stable isotope analysis data of Atlantic smooth hammerhead shark vertebrae
收藏资源简介:
This dataset contains the raw and processed stable isotope data underlying the manuscript “First use of triple-element stable isotope analysis of elasmobranch vertebrae reveals strong ontogenetic shifts in smooth hammerhead sharks”, currently under review. It includes carbon (δ¹³C), nitrogen (δ¹⁵N), and sulphur (δ³⁴S) stable isotope measurements obtained from vertebral growth layers of smooth hammerhead sharks (Sphyrna zygaena) collected across the Atlantic Ocean. The dataset provides individual-level isotope values for each sampled growth layer, along with associated biological and sampling metadata (e.g., total length, sex, estimated age, capture location). These data were used to reconstruct lifetime trophic and habitat-use trajectories and to assess ontogenetic, inter-individual, and maternal ecological patterns. All isotope ratios are expressed in ‰ relative to international standards (VPDB for carbon, AIR for nitrogen, and VCDT for sulphur).Note: This dataset is released prior to peer-reviewed publication to ensure transparency and reproducibility; it may be updated upon final acceptance of the associated manuscript.
