Nine C57BL/6J male mice (6-8 weeks) were randomly divided into three groups, sham, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and erythropoietin group (n = 3). The sham group only received craniectomy, while TBI and the erythropoietin group received a controlled cortical impact (CCI) after craniectomy. The erythropoietin treatment group received an intraperitoneal injection of 5000 U/kg erythropoietin per day for 3 consecutive days (including impact day) after TBI. On the third day after TBI, all mice were sacrificed by cervical dislocation, and the brain tissues of the injured hemicerebrum were taken following storage in liquid nitrogen and sent to BGI for the second-generation transcriptome sequencing.
