Probing the ground state of the Weyl semimetal pyrochlore iridate Nd2Ir2O7 by REXS

We propose to determine the ground state of pyrochlore iridate Nd2Ir2O7 by means of resonant elastic X-ray scattering (REXS). At a low temperature of 39 K (Fig.
1a), the iridium sublattice magnetically orders in a “All-In-All-Out” (AIAO) state (Fig. 1a). By cooling down, a second magnetic transition around 11 K appears
corresponding to Nd sublattice magnetically ordering also in AIAO fashion as determined by powder neutron diffraction. Recently, we synthesized large high-quality
stoichiometric Nd2Ir2O7 single crystals, revealing the magnetic properties similar or improved compared to the previous reports on powder and off-stoichiometric
single crystals. Thanks to resonant processes allowing clear disentanglement of the Ir and Nd sublattices, we propose to determine the magnetic structure of our new
Nd2Ir2O7 single crystal using the D2AM-Kappa diffractometer.
