Images and GIS data from an Archaeological Evaluation at Frome Road, Upper Studley, Trowbridge, Wiltshire, July 2022

This collection comprises images and GIS data from an archaeological evaluation at Land off Frome Road, Upper Studley, Trowbridge, Wiltshire. This work was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in July 2022. A total of 15 trenches were excavated. Two pits, containing a small assemblage of worked flint and hammerscale, were identified in trenches excavated in the northwestern part of the site. The precise function of these features remains unclear, however the relatively small quantities of artefactual material recovered from the fills of these features suggest that they may have lain at an appreciable distance from any areas of former, prehistoric settlement, should this have existed. They are therefore considered most likely to have been associated with seasonal or transient activity situated on an area of higher ground adjacent to the Lambrok Stream.
