FQMS - Fuel Quality Monitoring System 2021.

According to EU Directive 98/70/EC, Member States must verify compliance with the quality standards for fuels and report the results to the European Commission. In Austria, around 7.93 million tonnes of fuel were sold in 2021, of which 6.49 million tonnes (over 82 %) were diesel fuels. The Federal Environment Agency analysed samples from 206 petrol stations throughout Germany, with one sample taken per petrol station. Diesel fuels have been tested in accordance with ÖNORM EN 590, petrol fuels in accordance with ÖNORM EN 228. In the case of petrol, the review revealed a total of two deviations from the standard parameter for vapour pressure of the ‘Super’ fuel type, while in the case of diesel, an excess of the FAME content was found, while all the parameters of the fuel samples of the ‘Normal’ and ‘Super Plus’ petrol types were in conformity with the standard. The maximum value of 10 mg/kg sulphur content for marine fuels to be complied with in accordance with EU Directive 2009/30/EC was not exceeded for any of the six samples analysed.
