Georeferenced database of loess–palaeosol sedimentary archives from the southern East European Plain

This dataset contains a georeferenced database of loess, loess-like and palaeosol-bearing sedimentary archives from Russia and adjacent regions. The database includes information on site coordinates, coordinate accuracy, absolute elevation, thickness, type of excavation or exposure, geomorphological position, nearest locality, administrative unit, type of deposits, stratigraphic position, geochronological data, dating methods, bibliographic references, DOI or web links, principal investigators, comments and data contributors. The dataset is intended for Quaternary stratigraphy, palaeogeography, geoarchaeology, regional synthesis of sedimentary palaeoarchives, and assessment of spatial, stratigraphic and geochronological coverage of loess–palaeosol records. Multi-value fields are separated by semicolons and should be split into individual categories for statistical analysis where appropriate. Missing or unavailable information is marked as ND or left blank where the field was not applicable or information was not available from the source publication.
