Draft Genome Sequence of Bacillus sp. Strain Fil, a Psychrotolerant Soil Isolate from Christchurch, New Zealand

Bacillus sp. strain Fil is a psychrotolerant bacterium isolated from soil in Christchurch, New Zealand. This study aimed to generate a high-quality draft genome sequence to better understand the genetic basis of cold adaptation and ecological versatility in soil-dwelling Bacillus species. By combining whole-genome sequencing with phenotypic analyses, we sought to clarify the taxonomic placement of strain Fil and provide a genomic resource for comparative studies of psychrotolerant Bacillus spp. The data generated will support future research into stress tolerance, biofilm formation, and potential applications in biotechnology and environmental microbiology.
