UNR Mosquito Fire Smoke Density Current Lidar Dataset

This dataset contains vertical stare observations from the Stream-Line XR mobile Doppler lidar, capturing attenuated backscatter and line-of-sight velocity measurements (interpreted as vertical velocity in stare mode). Data were collected on 11 September 2022 between 1500 and 2200 UTC, during a smoke-driven density current event impacting Reno, Nevada from the Mosquito Fire that burned near Auburn, Caifornia. Measurements were acquired at approximately 60 Hz and post-processed onboard the lidar system. Output files are provided in NetCDF format. The lidar operates in the infrared spectrum at a wavelength of 1.5 µm. The instrument was deployed atop the Leifson Physics Building at the University of Nevada, Reno, offering an elevated vantage point for high-resolution profiling of the lower atmosphere during the event.
