This dataset is a supplementary material for the paper "<b>Discrepancies in lacustrine bacterial lipid temperature reconstructions explained by microbial ecology</b>" and contains brGDGTs data and related environmental variables from various lakes on the Tibetan Plateau and global lakes. The dataset records in detail the environmental changes and biological responses in the lakes of the Tibetan Plateau during the Holocene period. The dataset is divided into eight tables, covering the following aspects:<b>Data S1</b>: brGDGTs data from Tibetan Plateau lakes, including the relative content of brGDGTs at each sample site.<b>Data</b><b> S2</b>: Environmental variables related to lakes, such as temperature and salinity, which provide basic data for studying lake environmental changes.<b>Data</b><b> S3</b>: ss_OTU, detailing the Operational Taxonomic Unit (OTU) information of bacteria in the lakes.<b>Data</b><b> S4</b>: Tes_species, top 50 bacterial at family level based on tes gene similarity.<b>Data</b><b> S5</b>: Global lake surface sediments.<b>Data</b><b> S6</b>: BGC_BrGDGTs, relative abundance of brGDGTs from the lake Bangong Co.<b>Data</b><b> S7</b>: TP Holocene records, temperature reconstruction and chronology during the Holocene on the Tibetan Plateau.<br>
