Carbon emissions of submerged plant biomass offset its carbon sink effect in lake hydro-fluctuation belts

In this study, we investigated carbon budget associated with plants in the HFB of Poyang Lake, located in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River in China. Incubation experiments were conducted to gain CO2 and CH4 emissions during plant biomass decomposition and underlying microbial mechanisms, as well as strategies for mitigating these emissions.
