Variable descriptions: Capture = Whether the blood sample is from post-capture or after 24 h of net pen confinement. Spaghetti = The number of the spaghetti tag inserted into the fish, for those included in the net pen study. Cortisol = The plasma concentration of cortisol. Units for this and the other blood variables are provided in the paper. RAMP = RAMP score. Explanation provided in the paper. Orientation = Whether the orientation reflex was impaired (1 = yes). SamplingTime = The time, in seconds, between the fish being brought on board and when it was sampled, with the intervening time spent in a revival tote. FL (cm) = Fork length of the fish. InjuryScore = Injury score explanation provided in the paper. RAMP-Injury score = The combined condition score described in the paper. The second data file (“<b>Raby et al purse seine ms net pen mortality data supplement</b>”) whose data contains information on each of the fish that was included in the net pen confinement experiment. Date = The date the fish was removed from the net pen. OtherTag = Whether a V8-dummy transmitter (V8D) was attached to the spaghetti tag or the 24 h net pen study. Mortality = Whether this fish was counted as a mortality in the estimate and for statistics (i.e., includes moribund fish). Catch = The number of fish caught in the net set in which this fish was caught. SamplingTime = As above. Injury = Injury score, as above. RAMP = RAMP score. RAMPInjury = The combined condition score. FL (cm) = Fork length. Spag# = Spaghetti tag number. Phlebotomy = Whether this fish was blood sampled at capture time (1 = it was).
