Carbon and Nitrogen stable isotope values from aquatic consumers in Ontario ponds.

Amphibian larvae and invertebrates were collected from nine natural ponds varying in hydroperiod on the Queen’s University Biological Station (QUBS) property north of Kingston, Ontario, Canada during the months of April through September in 2008 and 2009. Stable isotope values are reported in delta notation as del13C or del15N using the equation del13C or del15N = ((Rsample/Rstandard) – 1) x 1000, where R is 13C: 12C or 15N: 14N. Mathematical standardization was used to account for lipid variation in del13C in consumer samples using the recommended equations from Post et al. 2007 Oecologia 152:179–189.
