Environmental determinants of biocrust carbon fluxes across Europe: possibilities for a functional type approach

The data set provided allows identification of drivers for metabolic activity in different biocrusts ecosystems across Europe. This data set is obtained through one year of monitorization of microclimate at the sample level together with chlorophyll fluorescence to identify metabolic activty. At the same time, we provide a data set of gas exchange in the laboratory of lichen- and moss dominated biocrusts through four environmentally different locations in Europe. The gas exchange data sets include C fluxes under controlled environmental conditions, light use related, and water use related parameters.<br>
