Lateral roughness correlations in 11B4C incorporated Fe/Si polarizing neutron mirrors
收藏资源简介:
The incorporation of 11B4C in multilayer thin films has been shown to significantly decrease the roughness between layers in our studies. This effect is now being applied and studied in neutron optics. The most common polarizing neutron mirror material system today is Fe/Si. Decreasing the interface roughness between the layers can be done by incorporating small amounts of 11B4C in all layers. With this proposal we aim to study the lateral magnetic roughness of Fe/Si+11B4C multilayer systems in comparison to Fe/Si without incorporated 11B4C. We expect the 11B4C to reduce the lateral roughness and magnetic correlations, and therefore plan for such long counting times, to carefully observe any differences between Fe/Si with and without incorporated 11B4C.
