Arctic sea ice concentration product from FY-3C/D MWRI data (2014-2023)

Sea ice concentration (SIC) is an important parameter to describe the characteristics of sea ice. This dataset presents the Arctic daily SIC at 12.5 km resolution from January 2014 to December 2023. The daily SIC data were generated using the ASI algorithm with dynamic tie-points from the brightness temperature data of the Microwave Radiation Imager (MWRI) sensor aboard the FY-3C/D satellites. Notably, atmospheric correction was conducted on the MWRI data by simulating the atmospheric impacts on brightness temperature through a microwave radiative transfer model. Furthermore, during the simulation process, we enhanced the estimation of parameters such as sea ice emissivity and initial SIC, which are utilized in the radiative transfer model. This data has been evaluated by cross-validation from 28 Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) images. Compared to the MODIS SIC, the average bias and root mean square error of the daily MWRI SIC is -0.52% and 13.40%, respectively.
