Acid-catalyzed condensation of aromatic amines with δ,ε-unsaturated aldehydes, followed by intramolecular formal hetero Diels−Alder reaction, is described as a potential route to the cyclopenta[b]quinoline substructure of isoschizozygane alkaloids.
