Courts output performance measures 2014-15

The financial reports for each department assist assessments of forecast\nfinancial performance, and its use of the parliamentary authority for\nresources.\n\nThe total resources made available to a department are applied to three uses:\n\n * provision of outputs; \n * asset investment; or \n * payments on behalf of the State. \n\nThe financial statements are presented in the format consistent with\nAustralian Accounting Standards. Controlled and administered items are\npresented in separate statements.\n\nAdministered items are those resources over which a department does not\nexercise direct control. Authority is provided through an appropriation for\npayments made on behalf of the State.\n\nThe following tables are available for each department:\n\n * controlled items statements:  \n * comprehensive operating statement; \n * balance sheet; \n * cash flow statement; and \n * statement of changes in equity. \n * administered items statement; \n * parliamentary authority for resources; and \n * payments on behalf of the State (where applicable). \n\n**Changes as a result of new legislation**\n\nThe _Court Services Victoria Act_ 2014 establishes Court Services Victoria as\na new body corporate from 1 July 2014, responsible for providing (or arranging\nthe provision of) administrative services and facilities for the courts, VCAT\nand the Judicial College of Victoria (collectively, Courts).\n\nThis change has been reflected in the financial and performance statements of\nboth the Department of Justice and Courts. Because responsibility for\nproviding administrative services and facilities for Courts has transferred\nfrom 1 July 2014, care should be taken when comparing financial statements\nacross financial years.\n\n
