Edinburgh - Analogues - PNW heatwave
收藏资源简介:
This store contains ERA5 analogues of the 2021 Pacific Northwest Heatwave case study of the Common Event Attribution and Assessment (CEAA) project of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) Explaining and Predicting Earth System Change (EPESC) Lighthouse Activity. These analogues are identified using Climate Explorer, following the methods of Thompson et al., 2026. 27 analogues of each of 2 periods, 1950-1980 and 1995-2025, are identified using Z500 field and Euclidean distance to identify the most similar summertime days to the event itself. The analogue domain is 30-70 °N, 100-140 °W. The Tier 1 netCDF data file (`EDINBURGH_ANALOGUES_tier1.nc`) contains the change in event intensity, assessed as the difference between the mean of the 27 analogues for each period. The Tier 2 netCDF data files (`EDINBURGH_ANALOGUES_tier1_past.nc` and ` EDINBURGH_ANALOGUES_tier1_present.nc') contains the maximum daily maximum temperature (TXx) of each analogue. Metadata contains information about the dates of the selected analogues. The Tier 3, 5-day sequence netCDF data files for each model (e.g. `EDINBURGH_ANALOGUES_tier3_var_past.nc`) contain spatial fields of surface temperature (t2m), mean sea level pressure (slp) and 500hPa geopotential height (z500), cloud cover (cloud), and total column water vapour (tcwv) for the five days leading up to and including the day of each analogue.
