Fertility haplotypes in beef cattle

Cattle exhibiting low fertility were sequenced to detect recessive lethal SNP, indel, and structural variant mutations leading to early embryo loss. Beef cattle were chosen among those that had demonstrated a high infertility rate (open rate).These animals were sequenced by Genome Quebec through a Genome Alberta funded project referred to as gEPD Sustainable Beef: Development and deployment of MBVs/gEPDs for feed efficiency and carcass traits that perform in commercial beef cattle (PI: Basarab; CoPI: Donagh Berry, John Crowley and Changxi Li).
