VPRS 14440 Register of Professional Officers

The Professional Officers Record Books hold records documenting the employment of lecturers, employees in teacher training colleges, school inspectors and other professional officers from c.1856 - c.1970. For records of teaching staff, see VPRS 13579 Teacher Record Books.Employment of Education Department clerks is documented in unit 1, up to c.1939.The location of Professional Officers records for the period c.1939 - c.1950 is subject to further research.Unit 1 includes entries relating to work performed for VA 703 Denominational School Board.Unit 2 contains employment records of lecturers in Education, whereas Unit 3 relates mainly to inspectors, but also includes guidance officers, directors of education, education officers, department psychologists and others. The records appear to have been sorted by the last position held by an individual.Unit 3 also contains a list of the retirement dates of some employees and a list of cards removed from the register. A further list is headed Batch numbers for outside employees. This list is subject to further research.Information captured can vary, but is largely the same.
