Data from Trans Border Study on Seme and Idi-Iroko

The on-going security threats in Nigeria have been largely attributed to fledging organized crimes along two most popular borderlands between Nigeria and Benin Republic (the Seme and Idi-Iroko border areas). The study was conceived to establish veracity or otherwise of the claim. Empirical evidence from analyzed data indicated prominence of six genres of organized crimes. The study concluded that the inordinate practices constitute a huge negative burden on the nation in different spheres, security risk in particular. Immediate upgrade of border security operations digitization entwined with aerial surveillance, strategic recruitment and national rebirth project to encourage legitimate practices were recommended.
尼日利亚当前面临的安全威胁,在很大程度上可归因于尼日利亚与贝宁共和国两处最主要边境地带(Seme边境地区与Idi-Iroko边境地区)滋生的新兴有组织犯罪活动。本研究旨在验证上述说法的真伪。经分析相关数据得到的实证结果显示,当地共有六类有组织犯罪较为猖獗。本研究得出结论:此类猖獗的犯罪行为给该国多个领域带来了沉重的负面影响,尤以安全风险为甚。研究建议,应立即推进边境安保作业数字化升级,结合空中监视、战略人员招募以及鼓励合法经营活动的国家复兴计划等相关举措。
