Concordia University and MUGQIC sequenced the Aspergillus niger strain NRRL3 genome. The assembly comprises 15 contigs in eight chromosomes. The seven gaps correspond to seven of the eight centromeres. In addition to automated gene prediction, the entire genome has been manually curated with evidence from assembled transcripts, RNA coverage, peptide mapping, protein domains, epigenetic markers, and gene models from closely related organisms.
