Porto Metropolitan Bird Observations — Extended Survey — Part 1 of 2

Other parts: • Part 2: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.20798403 This dataset contains six months of bird observation records collected at five sites across the Porto metropolitan area, Portugal, from January to June 2026. The main table includes individual observation records with a unique observation identifier, local timestamp, common and scientific species names, site identifier, individual count, anonymised observer identifier, and detection mode (seen, heard, or seen+heard). Supporting files provide site and species reference tables, a data dictionary, and summary CSV files with monthly species counts and site-level species richness. Counts are integer values representing the number of individuals recorded per observation, and timestamps are stored in ISO 8601 local time. The survey used timed 10-minute point counts conducted during morning hours to characterise seasonal variation in urban and peri-urban bird communities.
