The sweet potato whitefly, <em>Bemisia tabaci</em> (Gennadius)<em>, </em>is a species complex containing at least 44 species that differ in host breadth, insecticide resistance, virus transmission ability, and genetic composition. Among these cryptic species, <em>B. tabaci</em> MED (also known as <em>B. tabaci </em>biotype Q) is one of the most globally invasive and destructive species owing to its high insecticide resistance, virus transmission, and wide host range. This genome is a complete assembly at the chromosome level, which will help biologists gain a deeper understanding of this invasive pest.
