Assessing the Influence of Hazard Mitigation Planning on Disaster Recovery

The hazard mitigation plan quality dataset allows researchers to understand the performance of local hazard mitigation policies. The dataset was collected by a research team of graduate students through content analysis of county hazard mitigation plans in the Southeastern states of the US (i.e., Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina). The included jurisdictions consist of a list of randomly selected cities and counties. This plan quality dataset can be integrated to assess the overall quality of the built environment, local allocations of resources, and communities' capacity for hazard risk reduction.
