资源简介:
A total of 24 bulk soil samples from the Rice Creek Trench site near North Ogden City,
Utah, were floated to recover organic fragments suitable for radiocarbon analysis. Botanic
components and detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially radiocarbon datable material
was separated. The Rice Creek Trench site is part of the Weber segment of the Wasatch fault
zone. Two fault trenches were excavated, which yielded evidence for three separate fault
zones. Dating of material from the fault zones will be used to provide time limits for four or
more paleoearthquakes. Fifteen samples of charcoal or charred organic material were
submitted to Woods Hole Institute for AMS radiocarbon dating.
