3D bridge models

DT represents a fusion of the informational and physical domains to bridge the real and virtual worlds, which offers a new perspective for intelligent bridge construction. In this context, we proposed a DT-enabled spatial modelling approach of bridge construction environments to upgrade decision-making intelligence. We first classified the objects and relationships involved in the bridge construction. Based on that, we established a logic model, which provided a reference guide for implementing the subsequent spatial modelling and visual simulation of bridge construction. Then, we created a high-fidelity virtual geographic scene for bridge construction and proposed the corresponding spatial modelling solutions for wind, temperature, and stress factors. In addition, the bridge construction process was visually simulated by analogy with the tree growth. Finally, the proposed approach was implemented on a mega suspension bridge under construction. The results from the case study show that the spatial modelling and visual simulation of bridge construction provide an effective solution for pre-discovering risks, optimizing construction plans, and assisting decision-making, which also has excellent potential for the lifecycle management of bridge construction
