Tiger Beetle Image Dataset

Tiger Beetle Image Dataset is an image dataset dedicated to the classification of Sri Lankan tiger beetles, jointly developed by the University of Colombo and the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology. This dataset contains 352 images covering nine genera across two tiger beetle tribes. The images are sourced from diverse channels including field surveys, works by wildlife photographers, and online resources, resulting in significant variations in both image quality and background noise. The dataset aims to support biodiversity monitoring and automated insect identification by enabling machine learning models to recognize and classify tiger beetles, especially when addressing challenges such as limited training data, class imbalance, and background noise.
