Central Ontario Orthophotography Project (COOP) 2026 - 1km Preliminary Index

Central Ontario Orthophotography Project (COOP) 2026 COOP 2026 will capture 20 cm resolution, leaf-off/low-leaf, multi-spectral imagery, accurate to within 60 cm “on the ground”. The acquisition prioritizes settled areas in central and northeastern Ontario. Geospatial Ontario (GEO) will work with our current imagery provider to acquire the aerial photography, under spring-like conditions to maximize the view of the ground surface. Good ground, weather and atmospheric conditions are required to complete flights prior to significant leaf-out coverage. Poor conditions may delay acquisition completion to the fall or next spring. Orthophotography and associated stereo imagery will be openly available to order in early 2027. Open imagery internet-based services that include COOP 2026 will be available shortly after. Ontario Imagery Program: Up-to-date imagery is critical for mapping as well as land use planning, asset management, research, analysis, emergency planning, compliance enforcement and much more. GEO coordinates with stakeholders to acquire new, relevant imagery on 5-year refresh cycles. Since 2013, over 540,000 square kilometres of aerial imagery have been captured throughout Ontario.
