In 2023, the German aerospace industry had roughly 115 thousand employees, which was an increase compared to the previous year. Generally, the number of employees has increased significantly since 1997, with a drop in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid pandemic. However, numbers have recovered in 2023 and have even exceeded the pre-pandemic record year of 2019.Increased staff recruitment were also a reaction to the turbulent conditions at German airports in summer 2022, with led to long waiting times due to a lack of staff.
