A Tree Preservation Order (TPO) is an Order made by a Council in respect of a tree(s) because the tree is considered to bring amenity value to the surrounding area. The order makes it an offence to cut down, uproot, prune, lop or damage the tree in question without first obtaining the Council’s consent. A TPO can apply to a single tree, a group of trees or a woodland树木保护令（Tree Preservation Order，TPO）是由地方议会针对单棵或多棵树木作出的命令，因该等树木被认为可为周边区域带来美观宜居价值。该命令规定，未经地方议会事先许可，砍伐、连根拔起、修剪、截枝或损毁相关树木均属违法行为。树木保护令可适用于单棵树木、成片树木或林地。
