This dataset documents a series of rare, long-duration vocalizations produced by an unidentified wild felid (referred to as Taylung, Turonbars, Dashtbarsi, or Babr) observed in the Western Tien Shan, Sijjak mountains, Uzbekistan, on August 7, 2025 (22:10–23:00 local time). Technical Observation Note: Despite the observers being equipped with a Samsung S24 Ultra smartphone, no audio recording was obtained during the peak of the event. The extreme proximity of the predator and the intensity of the vocalizations induced a state of acute physiological shock and cognitive freezing among all witnesses. This stress response resulted in the inability to operate recording equipment in real-time, a phenomenon consistent with "predator-induced tonic immobility" or "acute stress disorder" in humans facing immediate biological threats. The event is corroborated by five adult witnesses: Bakir aka (1961), Shoqosim aka (1969), Akbar (1983), Nuri (1983), and Miraziz Temir Azimov. The vocalization sequence lasted approximately 90 seconds, characterized by high-pitched, repeated calls that moved spatially closer to the group. The dataset includes detailed field notes and psychological reports of the encounter, providing a unique case study on the behavioral ecology of relict felids and their impact on human subjects. The vocalizations originated from a distance, exhibiting low-frequency components and varying proximity as the animal approached and subsequently moved away from the observers. Prior to the felid’s appearance, loud warning calls from a raven were noted, which appeared to be synchronized with other local fauna, including crows, small mammals, domestic chickens, dogs, and cattle, who responded with distant vocal signals or silence when the predator approached. Once the felid retreated, domestic and farm animals resumed vocal activity. The vocalization caused a pronounced stress response in the human observer Asror (1983), who retreated into shelter during the event. The partial audio was recorded with a Samsung S24 Ultra, capturing the intensity and temporal dynamics of the vocal sequence. These observations provide unique empirical evidence of long-distance territorial or patrol vocalizations in a large wild felid and demonstrate both interspecies acoustic interactions and the psychological impact of predator presence on human witnesses. The dataset includes eyewitness notes, behavioral observations of other wildlife, and audio documentation, offering a valuable resource for studies in behavioral ecology, predator-prey dynamics, and human-wildlife interactions.
