Chloroplast genome characterization of Polygala vulgaris

In the present work, the cp genome of three individuals originated from tetraploid Polygala vulgaris was analyzed using short-read DNA sequences. Based on three cp genome sequences, we determine the genome structure, gene content, tandem repeats, simple sequence repeats (SSRs) and highly variable regions. This study provides insights into knowledge about phylogenetic relationships among Polygala taxa. Moreover, we aimed to identify the most variable regions of the cp genome as a potential DNA barcode markers.
