Girls adorned for circumcision, Arusha, Tanzania, ca. 1907-1930

"Beschneidungsmädchen aus Aruscha" ("Circumcision girls from Arusha"). Three taller and two smaller girls. Their arms adorned with metal spirals. Adorned necks. Four of the girls with a bare upper body, embroidered belts and rattles tied to their legs. One girl with a feather on her head. In the background a brick building with thatched roof.; Leonhard Blumer (1878-1938), from Kida in Estonia, served the Leipzig Mission as pastor and teacher in Arusha from 1907 to 1930 (apart from home leave in 1912-1913 and 1924-1926).
