Supplemental material for "Role of air pollution exposure in the alteration of brain cortical structure: a large-scale genetic association study". The rapid development of industrialization has led to soaring levels of fossil fuel burning and vehicle emissions, industrial air pollutants have posed disturbing health threat and heavy public health burden. Considering that brain cortical structure is crucial for evaluating brain health and maintain brain function, our investigation aims to determine the independent influence of each air pollution exposure on brain cortical morphology using the epidemiological univariableand multivariable Mendelian randomization approach. Our findings supply valuable insights into the latent pathogenic mechanisms responsible for alterations in brain cortical morphology induced by air pollution exposure. Modulating amendable environmental risk factors, such as air pollution, offers a realistic prospect against brain cortical structure alterations and subsequent neuropsychiatric disorders.
