资源简介:
This series consists of 5 volumes produced by the Fisheries and Oyster Beds branch (later the Fisheries Branch) recording lessees of oyster leases in New South Wales between 1899 and 1952. A single lease is recorded in each entry and the entries run in lease number order. The main purpose of the registers is to record the current lessee, the location of the lease, term of the lease and to provide an annual record of rent paid. The way the registers are set out changes slightly over time. For the first two registers, each entry for each lease records: Lease number; Lessee; Locality; Length of foreshore in lineal yards; Date of lease; Term of lease; Date of annual expiry and payment. For the later three registers, each entry for each lease records: Lease number; Registration number; Date received; Applicant; Locality; Lineal Yards of Foreshore; Application lodgement / amount / date; Period of lease (years); Date of lease; Annual rent payable; Rent due when. The later registers include an alphabetical index of lessee names at the front of each volume. This index lists the name of the applicant, the number of the application (lease), locality, foreshore or area, folio or page number on which the lessee can be found.Alternatively, to find the lease number of a particular lessee NRS 298 Personal oyster lease register can be used for any lease up to 1930. This register lists lessees alphabetically by surname and lists the oyster lease numbers under the name of each lessee. The same type of information as found in these volumes can be found in card format in NRS1300 Card register of rents on oyster leases. However from lease number 16377 onwards only the card register was used. A note in the back of the last volume in this series states "for 16377 onwards see card system".
