资源简介:
Passive seismic measurements of turbidity currents by Ocean-Bottom seismographs (OBS) in the Congo Canyon-Channel, offshore West Africa. Instruments were deployed in September 2019 (cruise JC187) and recovered in September 2020 (cruise JC209). The OBS's stopped recording between May 16th and June 28th, 2020 when the instrument batteries ran out. Five OBS's were deployed in the Upper Congo Canyon in Angolan waters (all of which were recovered), and seven OBS moorings were deployed in the deep-water channel in international waters (of which five were recovered). The OBS's were deployed 700-2900 metres away from the centre of the canyon-channel, on flat canyon terraces or on overbank areas outside the channel. The location of each OBS is based on the ship’s position when the instrument was deployed, and OBS drift while sinking is expected to be small. The nine OBS's deployed by OBIC (Ocean Bottom Instrument Consortium) consisted of three-channel Sercel L28-LB geophones and a Hi-Tech HTI-90U hydrophone. All geophone output was sampled at a frequency of 1 kHz, apart from OBS4 (250 Hz). The data are stored as raw counts from the analogue-to-digital converter (ADC) in netCDF formatted raw (continuous) data. The OBS were supplied and deployed by OBIC (Ocean Bottom Instrument Consortium). These data were generated under the NERC grant NE/R001952/1.
