Comparative transcriptomic analysis of different Sox9+/Scx+ progenitor populations identified genes potentially involved in patterning of bone superstructures. Moreover, this analysis shows that the genetic program includes both proximal and distal regulatory modules. Comparative transcriptomic analysis of proximal and distal Sox9+/Scx+ progenitor populations was performed. Sox9+/Scx+ progenitor populations were isolated by FACS sorting genetically co-labeled Sox9-CreERT2;Rosa26-tdTomato+;ScxGFP+ cells from E13.5 dissected forelimbs.
