Effect of rosiglitazone on intestinal microbiota in aged mice

Mice were group-housed with 6 mice per cage and were fed standard rodent chow until 17 months of age. After the age of 17 months, mice in the experimental group received a commercially purified diet (AIN-93M) that contained rosiglitazone (0.6 mg/kg/d), while control mice received a standard purified diet (AIN-93M) without rosiglitazone. At the age of 22 months, fresh feces were collected from the colons of mice and immediately frozen in liquid nitrogen. 16S sequencing was employed to elucidate the impact of pharmacological treatments on the gut microbiota composition in aged mice.
