Complete genome sequence of Desulfovibrio sp. GTC20076 isolated from a human patient in Japan

Desulfovibrio are classified within the phylum Deltaproteobacteria. These rod-shaped bacteria are mesophilic, Gram-negative, anaerobic, and produce hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S) as a terminal by-product of their metabolic activity. They are commonly found in a variety of environments. In this study, we present a complete genome sequence of a novel Desulfovibrio species isolated from a human patient in Japan. The initial identification of this strain was conducted using a MALDI-Biotyper, following the manufacturer's guidelines (Bruker Japan). The identity of the strain was subsequently confirmed through the analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequence. The complete genome sequence of this strain has been determined. The sequencing was performed through a combination of long-read sequencing by nanopore (Oxford Nanopore Technologies, Tokyo, Japan) and short-read sequencing by NovaSeq 6000 (Illumina Inc., California, USA).
