The study utilizes a combination of metagenomic, metabolomic analyses and Biolog EcoplatesTM community-level physiological profile (CLPP) to evaluate root metabolome and bacterial community and functional diversity of rhizosphere and endosphere of P. australis under different heavy metal laden AMD gradient to help decipher the link between plant-derived root exudates and microbial community assembly and function as shaped by the inherent environmental factors.
